Nobody Volunteers

Verse

I can hold the weight on my shoulders

I can carry the wood in my arms

my legs still support me jumping from the roof of the barn

And all the horses need to be fed all the chickens need their water

The corn needs a harvest, like my weary head needs a bed

Chorus

Still nobody volunteers to chop the wood

I’ve taken, taken out the trash for a year and a day

So keep in mind, I tend the hay bails and I keep the bull at bay

Still nobody, nobody volunteers

Verse

Yeah we can play out in the yard

And sure we can eat up all the corn

but there comes a time when somebody else in the stable

can help me take all out the horses during the storm

and it’s time to pick the apples before the worm eats out the core

all the dogs need some incentive or they won’t catch the rabbits anymore

Chorus

Still nobody volunteers to chop the wood

I’ve taken, taken out the trash for a year and a day

So keep in mind, I tend the hay bails and I keep the bull at bay

Still nobody, nobody volunteers
